CANCER SURVIVOR AND TV STAR ROB LLOYD WALKS THE PLANK OFF LLANDUDNO PIER
Rob’s Senseless Challenge
In March this year, the 57 year old revealed that he’d been treated for lymphoma and was launching his Senseless Challenge to help people with complex disabilities. Rob had been touched by the story of a brave brother and sister – three-year-old Charlie and four-year-old Mia Clucas who were born with a rare genetic condition and are unlikely ever to walk or talk. They will need 24-hour care for the entirety of their life and are supported at the Sense Family Centre in Peterborough. The money raised will go towards the cost of a new Sense centre in Denbigh, Wales. Rob’s Sense-less Challenge concludes in March 2022.
After bouncing back from the financial brink and being struck down by cancer, North Wales property developer and charity fundraiser Rob Lloyd is planning to walk the plank off Llandudno pier.
The crazy stunt, which takes place at 2pm on Saturday 4th December, will form part of Rob Lloyd’s ‘Senseless Challenge’ – a year of madcap exploits to raise money for the disability charity Sense.
Lloyd, who starred in Channel 4’s hit show ‘The Secret Millionaire’ in 2009 and ITV’s ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ in 2017, has been challenged to jump the 2,295 ft (700m) into the sea by Adam
Williams – owner of Llandudno pier and star of the recent ITV Cymru Wales series, ‘The Pier.’
Rob Lloyd (57), who was one of the richest people in Wales before losing his fortune and being diagnosed with blood cancer, will divert from his 10 day challenge which starts this Friday 3rd December walking, running and cycling the 379 miles from Wrexham to Newport on arrival in Llandudno to take the leap into the sea which is expected to be a bracing 9.7C/49.5F degrees in temperature. .
Of his latest stunt Rob Lloyd said: “After having lymphoma and then committing to a year of sporting challenges which have included a gruelling weekend of physical activity with the SAS; scaling the Three Peaks and abseiling blindfolded down The Orbit, and many more, this challenge might be the toughest of all. I don’t like heights and the water will be very cold!
“However I am doing it because I want to support people with complex disabilities and their families. Children and adults who are living with two or more disabilities need high levels of support every single day of their lives which is why the work of charities like Sense is so vital.
“This is going to be the craziest stunt so far and I’m really grateful to Adam for making it happen.”
The Grand Tour of Wales
His next challenge is a gruelling one – from December 3rd 2021 Rob Lloyd will run, cycle and walk 379 miles from Wrexham to Newport over 10 consecutive days.
Rob will be swapping his purple tutu and orange tights – the colours of Sense charity for a variety of festive outfits such as a turkey, Christmas cracker, a snowman and the Grinch amongst others.

6th Dec – Bangor to Dolgellau
7th Dec – Doleggelau to Aberystwyth (overnight Hotel)
8th Dec – Aberystwyth to Cardigan (overnight Hotel)
9th Dec – Cardigan to Merthyr Tydfil (overnight hotel)
10th Dec – Merthyr Tydfil to Ebbw Vale and Newport (overnight hotel)
11 Dec – Newport to Barry and Home

At his zenith property developer Rob Lloyd was worth an estimated £37 million. He owned 55 race horses and a stud farm – but the good times came to an abrupt end in 2010 during the recession, and everything according to Rob “fell off a cliff”. Losing most of his fortune and being diagnosed with blood cancer has not stopped Rob Lloyd from wanting to help others.

Adam Williams is the grandson of travelling showman Billy Williams is the owner of one of the region’s most iconic tourism attractions 60 years after his ancestor arrived in North Wales in a caravan.
